Amanda MartinezAmanda started sewing when she was a child, making costumes for her stuffed animals and dolls. She spent many hours perched on her mother’s knee in front of the sewing machine watching and learning.

In 2007 she started her label Dearest while studying with Fashion Ninja. In 2008 she enrolled in Mount Mary’s Apparel Product Development program with a special interest in pattern making and fit. After graduating in 2011 she started working at┬áKohls. Today she is an assistant children’s wear designer.

However her passion still lies in her independent designs. Amanda was lucky enough to meet Miranda while co-organizing a show 2 years ago. She is very flattered by the opportunity to show her fall 14 collection as part of Miranda’s Return to the Runway showcase.

Amanda describes her fall 14 collection as Retro Pop. By putting a modern twist on fun retro silhouettes she came up with this playful ready to wear collection.
